Internet Security 101
The Internet is a wonderful playground. But security of your computer is something you should take very seriously. Hackers are always trying to find vulnerable computers to penetrate or infect with their viruses.
So, here's some advise on how to protect your computer.
1. Firewall
2. Anti Virus
The first thing you would need is a firewall. Don't worry, there's no fire involved. A firewall is basically a piece of software that sit's on your computer and screens all incoming and outgoing activity. It's sort of like a bodyguard, your personal bodyguard.
One of the best firewall software's in the market is Zonelab's Zonealarm. The free version of ZoneAlarm is a very comprehensive software.

It's easy-to-use firewall automatically blocks hackers and other unknown threats and also makes your computer invisible to anyone on the Internet (this is what you should be aiming for as you don't want your computer publicizing your IP address to the world).

Then comes the anti-viruses. With all the viruses and trojan horses flying around, this is a piece of software you cant do without. The best, free anti virus is none than AVG's Free Anti Virus. It comes with a comprehensive protection, even though its a free version.
I will elaborate more on other forms of computer protection later. But for now, download and install the anti virus and firewall to make your experience on the Internet a safe one.
One, paid product, which has won praise year after year for its complete protection is ZoneLab's Internet Security Suite.
