Vaccinations
Before embarking to Nigeria, remember to get your vaccinations in
order and supply of Malaria pills. Malaria is still a pandemic in
Nigeria, so beware. The two most common pills are Mefloquine (also known
as Larium) and Malarone. Mefloquine is a weekly pill. Take this pill one
week before your depature. Malarone, a daily pill, is more expensive. I
was on Mefloquine during our stay in Nigeria.
As for Vaccinations, here's a list:
- Yellow fever
- Meningococcus
- Polio
- Hepatitis B
- Rabies
- Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
- Tetanus-diphtheria
The most important being Yellow Fever, dont leave home without it.
Also, remember to bring some diarrhea pills. Some people take some time
to get used to the food in Nigeria. Also, be careful of the water. Dont
drink from the taps. Drink bottled or filtered water.
